Healing Power of Hugs and Kisses

The healing power of hugs and kisses can be easily found from the internet.  A famous quote by Kathleen Keating Scholessinger ~ “The gift of touch is the most powerful healing you can offer another, and it is the most powerful healing you can give yourself.”

According to many experts, touching by way of hugs and kisses ease pain, lessen anxiety, soften the negative impacts from blows of life, generate hope and have  the power to heal.  Various studies and experiments show the simple act of reaching out and touching another person frequently results in physical benefits such as slowing the heart rate, dropping blood pressure and speeding recovery from illness. For example, Dr. James Lynch, professor at Baltimore’s University of Maryland School of Medicine conducts extensive studies on touch and its impact upon the body. “Physical contact has very dramatic effects upon psychological health,” he says. “It lowers blood pressure. It relaxes you.”

Other experts agree. “People who are more comfortable with touch are less afraid and less suspicious of other people’s motives and intentions,” says Stephen Thayer, professor of psychology at the City University of New York. “They tend to have less anxiety and tension in their everyday lives.”

It is endearing to wake your partner up with a kiss. A morning hug or kiss is sure a great way to start the day. Before leaving home, is another opportunity to kiss your love ones goodbye. And of course, a hug or a kiss to greet or welcome your love ones home. Before/after showers, goodnight kisses, to say thank you, even for no reasons at all! You don’t need any reason to hug and kiss the person you love!

Be generous with your hugs and kisses, and see how they can change your mood, health and life in positive ways.
